FAQ’s

  • The simple answer is “No.” Just like if you were to get into a car accident, you wouldn’t put your car
on a trailer and take it multiple body shops for estimates to repair it. You need to select a contractor to
restore your home, just like you would select a body shop to repair your car. The pricing to restore your
home, in the event of an insurance claim, is set by a 3 rd party software, not the insurance company, and
not the roofing contractor. Because of that, there is zero benefit in price shopping. Select a reputable
contractor, with experience in dealing with insurance claims, and one that runs the same software as
the insurance companies. Spire has handled countless insurance claims and runs “Xactimate – insurance
    claims estimating software.”

  • Yes, you do have to pay your deductible. Texas House Bill 2102, which went into effect on September
1, 2019, sent waves throughout the roofing and insurance restoration industry in Texas. Part of that bill
reads, “Texas law requires a person insured under a property insurance policy to pay any deductible
applicable to a claim made under the policy. It is a violation of Texas law for a seller of goods or services
who reasonably expects to be paid wholly or partly from the proceeds of a property insurance claim to
knowingly allow the insured person to fail to pay, or assist the insured person’s failure to pay, the
    applicable insurance deductible.”

If a roofing contractor is offering to waive, or pay, your deductible for you, the contractor and you could
be charged with a class b misdemeanor.

  • No. The State of Texas does not offer a license for Roofing Contractors or General Contractors. We would be the first to get licensed, if it was offered. We feel it would “weed out” fly by night contractors,
allowing legitimate businesses, like Spire, to operate under state requirements and supervision.
